Description

Slow cooker ribs recipe, which is one super tasty easy slow cooker ribs recipe I have produced! What could be easier than literally throwing everything in the slow cooker, then leaving it to marinade and cook for hours, then tucking into the most flavoursome ribs? Most people would associate cooking ribs in your conventional oven, but once you have learnt how to make spare ribs in a slow cooker, then you will probably never make them any other way! Why is this? Mainly because the ribs are melt in the mouth soft (to the point of coming off the bone) and have a wonderful homemade sauce.

This recipe for slow cooker ribs, does not use ready made BBQ sauce (like many other recipes), which I think is a cheat too far for me. When the other ingredients are mainly store cupboard ingredients, you will find that there is no need to buy in BBQ sauce for a great store cupboard recipe. So this recipe is well worth a try whether you are making slow cooker bbq ribs or ribs in a crockpot.

The other good thing with this slow cooker ribs recipe is that there is NO need to take them out and roast them in the oven like some recipes. The other good thing, is that you can make them and if you so desire, flash cook them on the BBQ for few moments to crisp up.

The only point I would mention is cooking times. These do slightly vary according to your slow cooker, how big the slow cooker is, the make and model, the heat etc and of course the portion size. However I have given you guides within the recipe for a few scenarios, plus the recipe is for two people, so double up etc accordingly. You can also watch the video to give you an idea of how mind turn out.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 700g Pork Ribs GOOD QUALITY (Or You Can Use A Rack Of Ribs)
  • 1 Garlic Clove
  • 1.5 Tbsp of Cranberry Jelly or Redcurrant Jelly
  • 1.5 Tbsp Runny Honey
  • 1.5 Tbsp Tomato Ketchup
  • Sprinkle of Chilli Flakes
  • 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • Dash of Worcester
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 80-90ml Fresh Apple Juice

Instructions

Place your ribs inside the slow cooker.

Mix all the other ingredients in a bowl, and then pour over and coat the ribs.

Place the lid on and cook.  The times for this amount is as follows:-

  • Low – 8-9 Hours
  • Medium 6-7 Hours
  • High 4-5 Hours (I use this way the most)

The only point I would make is that if you want the ribs stickier, you continue cooking down for longer.  When I cook my ribs on High as per the video, it took 5 hours to get to a sticky consistency.    If finishing cooking by a BBQ, then cook on High for 4 hours, then GENTLY lift them out.  Place on the BBQ and spoon any remaining sauce in the slow cooker over them.
