Moroccan Chicken Wraps

These Moroccan chicken wraps have been a healthy firm favourite in my home for years! Gaming snacks or just a tasty quick family meal idea?

My son used to love me making these Morroccan chicken wraps for his gaming snacks. As he has got older, he still loves me making them. I used to make them healthier by using wholewheat tortilla wraps, and serving with plenty of salad. The Moroccan marinade could not be any more easier either, as I use just a few simple ingredients and let the chicken marinate in it for as many hours as possible.

So if you have ever wanted to know to make a chicken wrap from scratch, this recipe could not be any simpler to follow. There is also a useful quick video to help show you how to make chicken wraps tasty and delicious!

Ingredients

Scale

(Serves 2)

  • 2 Chicken breasts (uncooked and without skin) chopped into 2 cm pieces
  • 3 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 Tbsp Ras El Hanout Mix (found in supermarket spice aisle)
  • 1 Garlic clove crushed
  • Salt and pepper
  • Pinch of chilli flakes (optional)
  • 6 Tortilla Wraps
  • Optional Ingredients like lettuce, cucumber, tomato, red onion and garlic mayo

Instructions

In a bowl place the chicken, olive oil, ras el hanout, salt/pepper, garlic and any chilli flakes if using.  Mix properly and let it marinade for as long as you can.  Ideally this would be for a good 6 hours, however when pushed for time, I’ve marinaded for just 30 minutes.  It goes without saying that the longer the chicken is left to marinade the better the flavour.  Cover the bowl and place in the fridge whilst marinading.

Once ready to cook, prepare any salad and garlic mayonnaise in advance.  My recipe for a fabulous homemade garlic mayonnaise always goes down well.

Place a griddle pan or frying pan on the stove to heat and add the contents of the bowl.  Colour the outsides of the chicken, then turn the heat to medium to low,  Stir round and cook through ensuring it is properly cooked through.  This takes about 15 minutes.

Once cooked, assemble the wrap, with sauce at the bottom, then some chicken and salad with more garlic mayonnaise.

Notes

If you want to make this vegetarian, then you can use mushrooms cut up chunky and use a vegan mayo substitute.
