It’s Not A Diet!
It is not a diet. It is a health and lifestyle plan. The word diet is no longer used (in my opinion) in the correct terminology as it once was. Diet should be about health and lifestyle changes, but instead it seems to be tarred with a brush that is about removing certain food groups, or other extreme, ridiculous and unachievable plans that stand little chance of everlasting success. I’ve looked at many other plans and just know I would not find myself sticking to them. For one, some of the nutritional and health messages are at odds with what I believe in.
Other diet plans require that you purchase “their food products” and I often ask myself, would I buy this stuff forever? The answer is “no.” Most the time I wouldn’t buy it prior either, as I look at ingredients and more often than not they can make me recoil in horror. If you want a true insight into food additives, the book “E for Additives” is a MUST read, affiliate link below. Written in the 1980’s it is a great book all about food additives, and probably explains a lot for those who suffer with any food allergies. Most of these plans don’t focus on fitness much either, so that for me is another concern. One without the other is not one I would want to sign up to, unless of course you have separate fitness and nutritionist assistance.
There are many studies which now focus on certain “diet foods.” They are not all they are cracked up to be. I would rather have a plan which I have put together, which uses foods in their natural state. So you wont get me asking you to buy low fat items, artificial sugar (evil stuff in my opinion) or any other fake foodstuff. I have always had the mindset that this “diet foodstuff” is nothing more than a chemical cocktail.
Will you have to look at calories? Yes, as some people are eating too many and some are not eating enough! You heard correctly. Some people are not fuelling their body and go into some weird starvation system, where the body is holding on to any calorie for dear life. That is why I got annoyed at some people who would comment (very incorrectly I would add) about how much weight I lost. If only they knew my calorie intake and how I needed this for my fitness. It just shows how blinded people actually are, and think if you have lost weight, then you must have had to have starved yourself. This is far from the truth when it comes to me. It is about eating the right foods and removing the rubbish so your body works correctly. Fuelling and eating becomes even more important the fitter you get. This has been the case for me when nit comes to my trail running. My initial running distance would be short, so the fuel was not as important. As I can now run many miles in one session, the fuelling and replenishment of vital stores within my body becomes paramount. I shall talk more about this in time.
Portion control is another area which I focus on. Many people have this completely out of order. I have always been a person who gave “generous portions” when it came to food. That is fine for a dinner party, but not for everyday. Portion control and measuring properly, was something I had to learn and implement. See the portion control section of this plan, where you will then see with your own eyes just how easy it is to double, or even triple up on what your correct portion should actually be for your body. Its going to potentially shock you as to what your portion should be.
So with this plan, I focus less on diet, and more about health, nutrition and exercise.
When combined together I was able to lose almost 3 stones in weight and feel happier and healthier!
