Description

If you are looking for a Homemade granola that is delicious is super easy to make, then try this one.  You can make this granola recipe in an air fryer or you can use the oven.  The method is the same.  However, I enjoy using my air fryer (which is also a mini oven) and so i thought I would share my air fryer recipe with you! You may need to batch in amounts with your air fryer depending on your air fryer model.  I use my homemade granola for breakfast, with Greek yoghurt and fruit, and also as a crumble dessert topping.   You can also change the sweetening of this granola to your own preference.  I find it does need some sweetening whether that be with honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar or normal sugar as this helps the homemade granola have that toasted crunchy texture.  I also think the variety of nuts is up to you for this granola recipe.  I have just given the measurements and types of nuts and seeds etc. that I used when filming the video.  I was using a few of the nuts and ingredients up that I had spare over Christmas.  I would also give the tip, that you chop the nuts different sizes so that you have a mix of size and texture.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 55g Butter
  • 60g Honey and or maple syrup
  • 85g Demerara sugar or alternative
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla extract
  • 30g Mixed nuts chopped
  • 35g Hazelnuts roughly chopped
  • 80g Pecans chopped
  • 60g Flaked almonds
  • 70g Sunflower seeds
  • 45g Desiccated coconut
  • 125g Porridge oats
  • 2 Oranges zest and juice

Instructions

  1. If using an oven pre-heat to 150 degrees centigrade.  Pre-heat air fryer is required depending on your make and model.
  2. Place the butter and sugars/syrups/honey plus vanilla extract in a pan and heat through until melted.
  3. Place all dry ingredients, including orange zest, in a bowl and stir well.
  4. Put the orange juice into the sugar mix and stir through
  5. Now mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir well ensuring everything is coated. This could take a couple of minutes.
  6. Place the mixture on a tray in an even layer.  You may need to do this in batches depending on oven or air fryer.
  7. Cook for 50 minutes in the oven.  My air fryer takes 40 minutes.  You need to turn the mixture over in your oven or air fryer every ten minutes or so.  This helps to ensure that the ingredients are roasted and tasted and golden brown.
  8. Once you are happy with the colour of your granola you MUST place it on another tray and let it completely cool down.  This then allows it to go crunch and crisp.  Once cooled down place in a large jar with a good tight lid and store in a cool dry place.

Notes

Chop the nuts roughly different sizes as this helps give you texture and variety
