Honey glazed chicken recipe which is a great way to liven up chicken pieces. I will add, that my friend uses this glaze regularly on her vegetarian sausages too!
In our house these are not just reserved for summer, and definitely not just to be eaten at a bbq either! My husband in particular requests these on a Saturday night, with a savoury styled rice and corn on the cob. This glorious easy honey glazed bbq style sauce is fabulous. When it tastes this good homemade, why would you ever want to buy ready made sauce? Most of the ingredients are store cupboard essentials and so is easy to rustle up and simple to put together.
The other good thing about this recipe, is that it is also a lovely glaze over sausages too! The sausages just get a gorgeous gooey sweet texture.
Personally I prefer my chicken pieces oven baked, and then putting on the BBQ for a minute or so afterwards. I am so picky when it comes to cooking meat on the BBQ, and have had to refuse friends BBQ parties, because meat has often been served undercooked. When cooked in the oven, you know they are properly cooked.
There are lots of things you can serve this with, like jacket potatoes, cous cous, salad etc. Plus you can have them as finger food for a buffet not just in the summer, but for New Year parties and the like too.
Your glazed chicken may turn a slight different colour to mine. This is due to differing brands of honey and soy sauce in particular. It will still taste good too.
Read my notes in the recipe section below with regard to the tray you use. You can thank me later!

Description
Honey glazed chicken recipe which is a great way to liven up chicken pieces. I will add that my friend uses this glaze regularly on her vegetarian sausages!
Ingredients
- 12 chicken pieces such as drumsticks/thighs/wings etc
- 3 tbsp of runny honey
- 3 tbsp of wholegrain mustard
- 3 tbsp of soy sauce
- Zest and juice of 1 lemon
- Optional – Adults may want some paprika or chilli flakes added for extra heat.
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 190 degrees centigrade. Place all the ingredients into a bowl (except the chicken pieces) and mix well. Then pour and massage into the chicken. You could cook straight away, but if you leave it to marinade for a while, it helps the flavour get into the chicken.
Place in a roasting tin and cook for around 40 minutes, ensuring that you turn them over occasionally and spoon over the marinade in the tin.
Notes
One tip is to use a disposable tin tray if you have one. If you don’t have one make sure you soak the tin after cooking. This is because the tin can be rather sticky after cooking!
