Description

What is there not to love about Easter recipes? Chocolate Easter Nests are just unreal in the taste department. They are not at all healthy, but I am a great believer that you have to have t have the odd treat now and again.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • Slice of butter not margarine
  • Drizzle of golden syrup
  • 200g Good quality chocolate broken up
  • 1 Bar of shredded wheat broken up
  • 1/2 Bowl of Cornflakes
  • Mini Eggs or other decorations
  • Muffin tin and cupcake cases

Instructions

Place a pan on the stove and half fill it with boiling water.  Place a bowl on top, ensuring that you do not let the bottom of the bowl touch the simmering water.

Add in the butter, golden syrup and chocolate. Allow to melt and then take off the stove.

Mix in the shredded wheat and then cornflakes.  Coat properly and mix well.  The mixture might be a bit stiff, but that is fine as it will hold the nest shape better.

Ensure the cupcake cases are in the muffin tin.  Spoon the mix in, making sure you push the mixture against the sides slightly and leaving a slight dip in the centre.

Place any decorations in the centre, then place in the fridge for an hour to firm up.

Take the nests out the fridge.  You can carefully remove them from the cupcake cases if you wish.

Don’t be afraid to substitute some of the ingredients. For example if you have run out of cornflakes, then try rice krispies. You can get some great decorations as well now, so be adventurous!
