Mustard, one of the greatest sauces you can put on food! That isn’t just my opinion, but the opinion of my eldest son, who loves it smothered on my homemade burgers in brioche buns.

We both found our love for French’s mustard, way back over 20 years ago during a trip to Florida. There is just something special about arriving in the USA and taking your first bite of the iconic hot dog with this mustard. So even though I have been asked to produce this review, I can with all honesty, vouch for French’s classic yellow mustard. It has been a staple product in my fridge for years.

If you have never tried it, then you may be surprised. The taste is different to a traditional English mustard, which can at times have a tendency to overpower other ingredients. French’s mustard has a smoothness to it, giving a nice enhancement of heat without any harsh after taste.
Whilst I love this mustard with hot dogs and burgers, I also use it with other food. Vegetarian burgers, BBQ spare ribs, gammon, turkey club sandwiches, or as an ingredient in my glaze with sausages and chicken legs….the list is endless. One of my other favourite ways is my honey and mustard dressing. This is simply amazing over salad, I just cannot explain just how good it is! The recipe is listed below, should you want to try it.

Another element about this mustard (which pleases me), is that French’s classic yellow mustard is also free of artificial colours and preservatives. Plus it is suitable for vegans and vegetarians. The ingredients are simply spirit vinegar, water, mustard seed, salt, turmeric, paprika, spice, flavouring, garlic powder.
The mustard seeds in the French’s recipe are stone ground. They are also #1 grade mustard seeds. You would be astonished if you knew just how time consuming and how committed you have to be with this process. Mustard seeds themselves are an amazing ingredient. Many people claim that mustard seeds have helped alleviate their asthma attacks, lowered blood pressure and aided symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. This is because it is said to be rich in selenium which has anti inflammatory qualities.
So next time you pop some mustard on your food, it will not only taste amazing, but could be doing you some good. Do I recommend this product? Absolutely! As I mentioned earlier, it is one of my trusted brands and products in my store cupboard.
